WRITING CHRISTIAN ARTICLES  1
Grace Olumayowa Aideloje

I teach writing classes and here’s one of my favorite definition of writing:
Writing is transferring your thoughts to Paper.
This simple description has helped many beginners understand that writing is not as complex as it seems. It is simply putting down in black and white what’s on your mind. I consider this the most effective way of writing a good work. If it is not from the heart, it cannot be effectual; this is essential for any Christian writing.
Why?
Christianity is based on faith. Faith is a heart thing. It’s all about spirits communicating with The Spirit. For us, believing is seeing and not the other way round. So whatever we do must be rooted in the spiritual otherwise we can’t bear fruits.
Christian articles should be products of spiritual revelations, encounters and experiences of day-to-day living. They should be written as inspired of God and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16
If you want to write good Christian articles, here are some valuable tips.
WRITE BASED ON THE MANUAL
Producers make available to buyers a book that contains information and instructions about the operation of their products. Any buyer that ignores these instructions may either get injured or damage the product.
The bible is the Christian’s handbook. It contains all the information and instructions you need to operate successfully on earth.  You can’t do anything ‘Christian’ without consulting the manual. There is virtually no topic you want to write on that won’t find an anchor in The Word.
Just as writing an article on horticulture will require an in-depth knowledge on the subject; Christian writing can’t be done without you having a personal revelation and understanding of the Word of God.

FEED YOURSELF BEFORE YOU FEED OTHERS
Out of the abundance of the heart, the writer writes. You can’t give what you don’t have. To be an effective Christian writer, you need to be an ardent student of the bible. If the clouds are full of rain, they automatically empty themselves on the earth. Let your writing flow out of the abundance of your spiritual richness. The bible is a great source of writing ideas.
If you are bereft of new writing ideas, choose a topic of study from the bible. For example, forgiveness; get a concordance and search out scriptures on this topic. There are many stories on the virtues of forgiveness, like the Prodigal Son, (Luke 15:11-24) 0r the Unforgiving servant. (Matthew 18:21-35)
Study and meditate on them.
Apply the lessons to your life first. Obedience is essential because you can’t impart what you have not experienced.
Write down your thoughts as you prayerfully ponder. You will be surprised at how the Holy Spirit will flood your mind with revelations as you write on and on.
This requires a consistent study that may take weeks and months; not hasty searches. That is why daily fellowship with the Word of God must be our first priority.
Years ago, I started writing down my meditations and revelations from the Spirit of God as I study His Word. Sometimes I write just a few lines; at other times I write a whole lot. You can’t imagine how valuable I found those notes when I started writing and publishing Christian articles. They have become a rich resource to draw on in time of writing need.
Christian writing is a great commission. It is not a task for the spiritually slothful. We must stay in tune with the master in whose name we are writing.
